Pynkiwi

History related to the Founder.

My name is Jennifer Monimambo and I am a businesswoman in Angola in the USA. Since I was very young I have been passionate about the way different cultures intertwine, considering that I grew up exposed to internationality. I had the opportunity to live in 6 different cities around the world, which shaped the way I see it. With that, my mission in life is to expand people’s knowledge by connecting them to different cultures and Pynkiwi is the result of that.

How did the idea for this project come about and how many people are involved?

The summer of 2019 coincided with the time when I was challenged to find a solution to a problem that affects us as social beings…. organize trips! All of this considering my strengths: organization, detail and planning. I started the development of a kind of “tourism for goons” guide that was based on quantifying everything a tourist would need, before and during the trip. However, I realized that the solution I was offering did not take into account the real “struggles” of someone who organizes trips, especially with regard to group travel. I quickly realized that the guide for “goons” would not make sense, given the age of communication and information that we live in, but I also couldn’t focus on having tourism gurus as a target audience. There PYNKIWI was born. The PYNKIWI platform offers to improve travel planning and the booking process for group travelers. It is a platform that transforms a mere group chat into a travel booking paradise. We are currently 5 people involved in the project.

What makes your company different from others?

Pynkiwi is an application that revolutionizes the way we book and plan our holidays. Instead of searching through numerous websites, the user is able to organize their entire trip using conventional AI.

What is the area of operation and to which audience is it intended?

Pynkiwi is aimed at young travelers between 18 – 35 years old. We are thinking about launching in universities and higher education institutions.

What is the problem or the market need that your company intends to solve?

Pynkiwi wants to improve the way group travelers organize their trips with their friends.

What are the challenges they face?

We are currently trying to win 2 challenges. First, “how to continue to finance the development and marketing of the platform?” and second, “transforming organic traction into reserves”.

What are the next steps the company will take?

O MVP da plataforma em princípio estará disponível a partir do fim deste ano, então o objetivo será criar tração para a PYNKIWI e continuar a adicionar funções consoante as necessidades dos clientes.

What was the strategy implemented to keep your company running with the covid-19 pandemic?

We always work remotely, in this respect the company was already ready for social distance. But the stress induced by the situation in the tourism industry has been the purpose of all of our decisions. With that, we started every meeting to talk about news related to COVID-19, and how to use the situation to our benefit.

What advice or warning do you give other companies to overcome this crisis?

Create a space for crises, rather than a problem. For example, at PYNKIWI we open our doors to reorganize or cancel your trips for free, so our customers can concentrate on staying safe and we take care of the rest.
